Katie A. Killion is a 2002 cum laude graduate of West Virginia University, where she earned her B.A. in political science and philosophy. She is a 2005 graduate of the West Virginia University College of Law.
She is currently admitted to practice law in the State of Pennsylvania, as well as the Federal District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
She is an active member of the American Bar Association, Pennsylvania Bar Association, Allegheny County Bar Association, Pennsylvania Association for Justice. She was appointed and has served over 10 years on the Court of Common Pleas Arbitration Rules Committee. In 2020, she was selected to serve on the publications committee for the ACBA Law Journal.
She is a member of the Western Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association and has sat on the Board of Governors for the past 12 years. She has held the position of Treasurer, Secretary, and Vice President. She is currently the President-Elect of WPTLA.
In 2017 and 2021, she was elected to serve three-year terms on the Judiciary Committee of the Allegheny County Bar Association. This is the only committee in Allegheny County that is authorized to consider and rate the qualifications of judicial candidates.
In 2017, Katie was inducted as a fellow in the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County, an invitation-only group of the Bar’s most experienced and proficient litigators. Katie served as first chair of the 2021/2022 Academy Mock Trial Competition and has also served on the Diversity Committee and Academy Membership Committee in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023.
In 2023, Katie was appointed to serve a three-year term on the Hearing Committee for the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.
Katie was selected as a 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017 Pennsylvania Rising Star. Only attorneys that have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement are selected as Rising Star Super Lawyers. Rising Stars represent 2.5% of the outstanding emerging lawyers in Pennsylvania who are age 40 or under or have been practicing 10 years or less. More recently, Katie was selected as a 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 Pennsylvania Super Lawyer. Katie was also invited to join the Rue Ratings’ Best Attorneys of America and she was nominated as of the “10 best” Attorneys for Pennsylvania by the American Institute of Personal Injury Attorneys. Most notably, she was invited to be a member of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Only attorneys that have reached a trial verdict and/or settlement in excess of 2 million dollars are invited to join.
In 2014, Katie, along with Tony Mengine, obtained the highest verdict in the state of Pennsylvania for an auto case that was tried to verdict. The jury verdict was in excess of 15 million dollars.
Her areas of practice include Plaintiff’s Personal Injury, Civil Rights, Medical Malpractice, Products Liability, Property and Casualty, and Dram Shop Litigation.
